Amravati bomb threat caller arrested in Indore

Police in Amravati were thrown into a state of high alert following an anonymous phone call that warned of impending bomb blasts similar to those witnessed in Delhi. The threatening call, which created significant tension in the city, was quickly traced by authorities leading to the arrest of the caller from Indore.

The Threatening Call and Immediate Police Response

The Amravati police control room received the alarming call on Friday night, sending security forces into immediate action. The anonymous caller specifically referenced Delhi-like bomb blasts happening in Amravati, prompting authorities to deploy additional security measures across the city.

According to police officials, the accused individual resides in the Nandgaon Peth police station area of Amravati city. The caller identifies himself as Pandurang and claims to have converted to Islam, operating a Facebook account under the name 'Sahil Sheikh'.

Tracking and Arrest of the Accused

A special police team worked through the night to trace the origin of the threatening call. Their investigation led them to Indore, where they successfully apprehended the suspect on Saturday morning. The accused is expected to be brought back to Amravati on Sunday for further legal proceedings.

Crime Branch police inspector Sandeep Chavan revealed concerning details about the caller's history. "The accused has a history of making bomb threat calls. Earlier, he threatened former police commissioner Naveenchandra Reddy," Chavan stated, highlighting the pattern of threatening behavior.

Pattern of Harassment and Police Investigation

Investigators have uncovered that this wasn't an isolated incident. The same individual has repeatedly contacted the police control room, using abusive language and making threats on multiple occasions. This established pattern of behavior has become a significant concern for law enforcement agencies.

Police authorities suspect the primary motive behind these repeated threatening calls is to harass and trouble the authorities. The consistent nature of these communications suggests deliberate attempts to create panic and disrupt normal law enforcement operations in the region.

The swift action by Amravati police in tracking and arresting the suspect has been praised by local authorities, who emphasize their commitment to maintaining public safety and dealing sternly with those who attempt to create unnecessary panic through false threats.
