Amravati wife burns husband's warehouse over Rs 30 lakh

In a shocking incident of domestic conflict turning destructive, a woman in Amravati allegedly set her estranged husband's warehouse ablaze on Sunday after he refused to pay her a large sum of money. The fire gutted goods worth approximately Rs 25 lakh, according to police officials.

The Background of a Marital Dispute

The case involves businessman Manish, who owns a seat-cover shop and an adjoining warehouse where he also sells cushions and automobile audio-video systems. Manish and his wife have been living separately for the past three years, with her currently residing in Delhi with their daughter.

In his complaint to the police, Manish alleged that his wife frequently threatened him. The threats included harming their daughter, implicating him in false legal cases, destroying his property, and repeatedly demanding money. The situation escalated on December 2, when his wife allegedly visited his shop and demanded Rs 50 lakh, threatening to burn down his property if he failed to comply.

The Day of the Alleged Arson Attack

The final confrontation occurred on Sunday. While Manish was at his brother's house, his wife allegedly called him again. This time, she repeated her demand, now for Rs 30 lakh, and threatened to set the warehouse on fire if he did not pay the amount.

Shortly after this threatening call, a local acquaintance contacted Manish by phone with alarming news: his wife had allegedly set the warehouse on fire. Manish rushed to the spot only to find firefighters already working to extinguish the blaze. The fire had destroyed seat covers, speakers, audio-video players, and other goods stored in the warehouse.

Police Action and Aftermath

Based on Manish's formal complaint, the Rajapeth Police registered a case. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police arrested Manish's wife and also apprehended a friend of hers who was allegedly involved in the incident. The investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the arson attack is ongoing.

This extreme incident highlights how unresolved domestic and financial disputes can spiral into serious criminal acts, resulting in significant financial loss and legal consequences for all parties involved.
