Amritsar: A dispute over stopping a man from allegedly creating a nuisance while intoxicated escalated into a violent clash in the Dhapai locality late on Friday night, leaving a woman injured. According to police reports, a man residing in the area frequently consumed alcohol and created disturbances. On Friday night, when residents objected to his behavior and attempted to stop him, a heated argument broke out.
The situation soon escalated after the accused allegedly called his relatives to the spot, following which members from both sides gathered and a violent confrontation ensued. During the clash, sharp weapons were reportedly used, and two women who were passing through the lane at the time were caught in the crossfire and sustained injuries. ACP Surinder Singh informed that the police have registered a case based on the statement of Kaur.
