In a distressing incident in Amritsar, a young man suffered a gunshot injury late last night, with police later confirming it as a case of accidental firing. The victim, identified as Love alias Sagar, a resident of Guru Bazaar in the Chheharta area, was rushed to a private hospital for emergency treatment.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, the Chheharta police received information around 10 PM on March 18, 2026, about the admission of Love to a hospital with a bullet wound. Senior officials, including ADCP Sirivennela and ACP (West) Shivdarshan Singh, promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an inquiry.
Family members initially reported to the police that Love was shot by an unknown person on a scooter while he was outside his house feeding stray dogs with his sister. This account raised immediate concerns about a potential targeted attack in the neighborhood.

However, during a preliminary investigation, police uncovered a different narrative. It was determined that the victim's cousin, Danish, was handling a licensed pistol at the time. The weapon accidentally discharged while being cleaned, striking Love in the stomach. DCP Sandhu stated that authorities are thoroughly verifying the circumstances leading to the firing.
