Wasim Ali, the Proctor of AMU, initial information indicated a shooting had occurred, leaving one man injured. "We learned that the man who had been shot has been identified as Rao Danish Ali, and he was a teacher at the ABK School of the university. He was shot in the head. He died there at the medical college," the Proctor confirmed to the media. The exact number of gunshots fired remains unclear, with eyewitness reports varying between three and five.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Neeraj Jadon confirmed the grim details, stating that two unidentified men carried out the brazen attack.
