Tragic Accident in Ara Claims Life of Seven-Year-Old Boy
A devastating incident unfolded in Ara, Bhojpur district, on Monday morning when a seven-year-old boy lost his life after being run over by an unidentified vehicle. The tragic event occurred under the jurisdiction of the Town police station, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Victim Identified as Kishan Kumar
The deceased has been identified as Kishan Kumar, the son of Sonu Kumar, who resides in Dhanupra, Ara. The young boy was reportedly returning from an agricultural field around 10:30 am when the accident took place. According to his father, a four-wheeler coming from the Patna side made a wrong turn and crushed the child, highlighting concerns over reckless driving in the area.
Local Outrage Leads to Road Blockade
In the aftermath of the incident, a large number of locals gathered at the spot, expressing their grief and anger by blocking the Ara–Patna main road near Dhanupra. Vehicular movement was brought to a standstill for nearly two hours as protesters burned tyres on the road. The agitated crowd demanded adequate compensation for the bereaved family and called for stricter enforcement of speed limits in town areas to prevent such tragedies.
"My son was innocent, and his life was cut short due to rash driving. We need immediate action to ensure this doesn't happen to other children," said the victim's father, echoing the sentiments of other protesters who emphasized the urgent need for road safety measures.
Police Intervention and Investigation
Town police station SHO Devraj Rai, along with other police personnel, rushed to the scene to pacify the crowd. After assurances from a senior police officer regarding strict action to curb rash driving, the protesters eventually dispersed. SHO Rai confirmed that an investigation is currently underway to identify the vehicle and driver involved in the accident, with authorities committed to bringing the perpetrator to justice.
The community remains in mourning as they await further developments in the case, hoping for swift accountability and improved safety protocols on local roads.
