In a shocking incident of armed robbery, dacoits looted cash and valuables worth approximately Rs 5 lakh from a residence in the Chhajju Mohalla locality under the Biharsharif police station area of Nalanda district in the early hours of Thursday. The assailants held a 28-year-old woman hostage and assaulted her during the crime.
Victim Alone at Home
The victim, identified as Hena Parveen, was alone at the residence at the time of the incident. Her husband works in Delhi, and she had been staying at the newly constructed house for the past month to oversee interior work. The robbery took place around 3 am, according to her brother, Mohammad Shahid Ali.
How the Robbery Occurred
Five to six masked men reached the third floor of the building using an outer windowsill. They cut through the iron grill and window bars to gain entry. Once inside, the accused overpowered Parveen at gunpoint and demanded information about cash and jewellery. When she resisted, they assaulted her, causing serious injuries to her face.
The gang ransacked the house for nearly 20 minutes, stealing around Rs 25,000 in cash, gold and silver ornaments, and brass utensils. Before fleeing, the assailants snatched her phone, removed the SIM card, locked her in the bathroom, and escaped.
Police Investigation Underway
Biharsharif Sadar SDPO Nurul Haque stated, “An FSL team has collected evidence and CCTV footage is being examined.” The police are actively investigating the case and reviewing footage from nearby cameras to identify the perpetrators.
This incident has raised concerns about safety in the locality, with residents demanding increased police patrolling and security measures. The victim is receiving medical treatment for her injuries.
