Three Armed Men Gangrape Woman in Rudrapur, Record Assault on Video

In a shocking incident in Rudrapur, three armed men allegedly gangraped a married woman at gunpoint in front of her brother-in-law on Sunday night. The assault occurred as the victims were returning home from the ongoing Saras Mela at Gandhi Park, highlighting a severe breach of public safety in the area.

Details of the Horrific Attack

Around 9 pm, as the woman and her brother-in-law were nearing Modi Maidan on the Kichha bypass, the three men arrived on two bikes. They were reportedly acquaintances of the brother-in-law, which adds a disturbing layer of betrayal to the crime. The assailants brandished a pistol, threatening to shoot the victims if they resisted.

The men then forcibly took the pair to a deserted stretch near Thandi Sadak. There, they took turns to rape the woman while her brother-in-law was forced to witness the ordeal. When the woman attempted to resist, one of the rapists slashed a finger on her left hand with a knife, causing physical injury in addition to the psychological trauma.

Video Recording and Threats

In a particularly heinous act, the perpetrators recorded a video of the sexual assault. They threatened to upload this footage on social media platforms, aiming to intimidate the victim and prevent her from seeking justice. Additionally, they warned that they would kill her if she approached the police, creating an atmosphere of fear and coercion.

Police Response and Investigation

The rape survivor later filed a formal complaint at the Rampura police outpost. In response, authorities have constituted a dedicated team to investigate the incident thoroughly. Police are currently questioning her brother-in-law, as the accused were known to him, which may provide crucial leads in identifying the perpetrators.

A case has been registered under BNS sections 70 and 351(3) against unknown persons. Circle Officer (City) Prashant Kumar confirmed the registration, emphasizing the seriousness with which law enforcement is treating this case. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on tracking down the armed men and securing evidence, including the recorded video.

This incident underscores urgent concerns about women's safety in public spaces and the need for enhanced security measures during events like the Saras Mela. It also highlights the growing menace of digital threats in criminal activities, where perpetrators use technology to further victimize survivors.
