Armed Robbers Snatch Gold Chain Worth Rs 4 Lakh in Pune

Pune: Two unidentified men allegedly injured a 50-year-old land developer with a sharp weapon and robbed him of a gold chain worth Rs 4 lakh late on Tuesday night.

Incident Details

The robbery occurred on the Markal-Koyali Road near Alandi when the victim and his friends were returning home after dinner. The land developer, a resident of Charholi, lodged a complaint with the Alandi police.

An officer from the Alandi police told TOI that the complainant and his two friends were returning home after dining at an eatery. The complainant was seated next to the driver, while one of his friends was driving the car.

How the Robbery Happened

The driver had to slow down after a motorcyclist ahead of them suddenly applied the brakes. Two men on a motorcycle then stopped beside their car and knocked on the window. When the complainant rolled down the window, the pillion rider attempted to snatch his gold chain.

As the complainant resisted, the other robber attacked his right hand with a sharp weapon and snatched the gold chain worth Rs 4 lakh, the officer said.

Escape and Police Action

The duo then sped away. The complainant and his friends tried to chase them, but the robbers managed to escape, the officer added. A case of robbery has been registered with the Alandi police.
