Masked Dacoits Loot Rs 15 Lakh from Trader's Home in Madhepura Village

In a brazen late-night robbery, armed dacoits targeted the residence of a local trader in Brahmottar village, Madhepura district, making off with valuables worth around Rs 15 lakh. The terrifying incident occurred under the jurisdiction of the Bharrahi police station on Tuesday night, leaving the victims traumatized after being held at gunpoint.

Victim's Harrowing Account of the Robbery

The victim, Tej Narayan Gupta, recounted the horrifying experience, stating that only he and his wife were present in their house-cum-shop when the masked criminals struck. "I was sleeping when the robbers entered our home from the back entrance," Gupta explained. "They immediately held us captive at gunpoint, threatening us while they ransacked the premises."

The dacoits systematically looted the property, taking away:

  • Approximately Rs 5 lakh in cash
  • Jewellery valued at around Rs 9 lakh
  • Various other valuable items from the household

After completing their theft, the criminals locked Gupta and his wife in a room from the outside before fleeing the scene under cover of darkness.

Rescue by Local Residents and Police Response

Hearing the desperate cries of the trapped couple, concerned local residents rushed to the spot. The villagers managed to open the locked door and safely rescued Tej Narayan Gupta and his wife from their confinement. Following the rescue, the alert villagers immediately informed the local police authorities about the serious crime.

Bharrahi Station House Officer Armod Kumar promptly reached the crime scene upon receiving the information and initiated a thorough investigation. Madhepura Sub-Divisional Police Officer Pravendra Bharti provided additional details about the ongoing police efforts, stating, "Our Forensic Science Laboratory team is actively working on the case, collecting crucial evidence from the crime scene. Simultaneously, multiple raids are being conducted across the area to apprehend the criminals responsible for this armed robbery."

The police have intensified their search operations in and around Brahmottar village and neighboring areas, following various leads to track down the armed dacoits. This incident has raised security concerns among local residents, particularly business owners and traders in the region.
