A brazen armed street robbery captured on closed-circuit television (CCTV) has reignited safety concerns in Ludhiana, underscoring a persistent surge in local snatching offences. The incident occurred in Guru Arjan Dev Nagar, where a woman was targeted by motorcycle-borne thieves around 1 am on Thursday.

The CCTV footage, which has been circulating widely on social media, shows the woman carrying a purse and a bag as she stopped beside a parked car. Two men on a motorcycle approached her, and the pillion rider dismounted to snatch her purse. When the woman resisted, the assailant brandished a machete and threatened her, ultimately seizing the bag before fleeing with his accomplice. The footage also captured a second motorcycle following the attackers, leading police to suspect that those riders were additional accomplices.
Witness Account and Police Response
A local resident reported being awakened by the woman's screams. Her husband checked their home's live security feed, which had recorded the entire robbery. The Division Number 7 police are currently working to trace the suspects and identify the robbed woman, who has not yet filed a formal complaint.
