Ranchi: A 38-year-old Army jawan was arrested on Friday for allegedly molesting a 23-year-old college student in the city, police confirmed on Saturday. The accused, a native of Haryana, is posted with his unit in Ranchi.

According to police officer Rupesh Kumar, the jawan was reportedly intoxicated when he molested the girl near a chowk on Friday. Following the incident, police examined footage from CCTV cameras in the area and conducted further investigation, which led to the identification and apprehension of the accused.
Legal Proceedings
Kumar added, "Police informed the commanding officer of the jawan before making the arrest. CCTV footage was produced before the court, which sent him to judicial custody on Friday. A case has been registered against the jawan under relevant sections of the BNS in this connection."
The swift action by law enforcement underscores the seriousness of the offense and the commitment to ensuring justice. The accused remains in judicial custody as the investigation continues.
