An army officer lost his life after slipping and falling into a deep gorge during an ongoing anti-terror operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Saturday, officials confirmed.

The officer, a lieutenant, was part of the security forces engaged in Operation Sheruwali, which has been underway for 15 days. The operation is focused on the Dorimaal and Gambhir Mughalan areas, where intelligence suggests two to three Pakistani terrorists are hiding in the dense forests of Rajouri district.
According to officials, the lieutenant slipped and fell into a 30-metre-deep gorge in the Dorimaal area while conducting a search operation. He sustained critical injuries and later succumbed to them.
