Army Veteran Fatally Struck by Speeding Truck in Gurgaon

A tragic incident unfolded in Gurgaon on Thursday evening when a 62-year-old Army veteran was killed on the spot after being hit by a speeding truck near Kalwari Chowk in the Bilaspur area. The victim, identified as Kabul Singh, a resident of Khor village, had served as a soldier before taking up farming post-retirement.

Details of the Fatal Accident

The accident occurred around 7:30 PM when Singh visited the local market at Kalwari Chowk to purchase household supplies. According to police reports, a truck arriving from the Tauru side was being driven at an excessively high and reckless speed. It struck Singh with such immense force that his body was left scattered across the road, leading to immediate death.

The driver of the truck managed to flee the scene immediately after the collision. Singh's son, Sandeep, reached the spot after receiving a call from a passerby, only to find his father had already succumbed to his injuries.

Police Investigation and Legal Action

A team from the Bilaspur police station arrived promptly at the scene after being informed. Police have initiated a manhunt for the unidentified driver, who remains at large. The body was shifted to the mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Authorities have registered a case under sections 281 (rash driving), 125 (endangering life), and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bilaspur police station. In their efforts to identify the truck, police are currently scanning CCTV footage from cameras installed along the Tauru-Bilaspur stretch to trace the vehicle's registration number. The body was handed over to the family on Friday following the completion of the autopsy.

Separate Tractor Accident Claims Another Life

In an unrelated incident, a 21-year-old man died after his tractor overturned near a commercial construction site in Sector 12 on Saturday. The victim, identified as Himanshu Rajput, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was residing in Sector 23, Palam Vihar. Rajput worked as a water supplier and had gone to refill a tanker at an under-construction commercial site in Sector 12.

He lost control of the vehicle, which overturned, crushing him underneath. Police have initiated inquest proceedings in this case as well, highlighting ongoing road safety concerns in the region.
