Police Officer Found Dead in Hazaribag Station Quarters
A 45-year-old police officer was found dead under mysterious conditions at a police station in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Julius Marandi, who was posted at the Barkatha police station.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
According to sources, the incident unfolded when ASI Marandi, who had been recently transferred to the district headquarters, returned to Barkatha to formally hand over his charge. On Thursday night, he had his dinner and subsequently retired to his room within the police station premises for sleep.
The situation turned alarming on Friday morning when fellow police personnel, noticing his absence, entered his room. They found him unresponsive. He was immediately rushed to the local Community Health Centre (CHC). However, the doctors there could only declare him brought dead.
Unclear Cause of Death and Official Statement
While initial speculation from some sources pointed towards the severe cold as a possible factor, authorities have refrained from confirming any cause. Barhi Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ajit Kumar Vimal addressed the media, emphasizing that it is premature to draw conclusions.
"The exact cause of death will be ascertained only after we receive the post-mortem report. It is too early to say anything at this moment," stated SDPO Vimal. This statement underscores the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, prompting a need for a thorough medical and legal examination.
The sudden demise of the officer has sent a wave of shock through the local police community. The body has been sent for an autopsy, and the report is awaited to determine the precise reasons behind this untimely death. Further investigation into the case is ongoing.
