Aizawl: In a coordinated operation, personnel from Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police apprehended three individuals and confiscated two foreign-manufactured pistols in the Chanmari West area of Aizawl. According to reports received on Sunday, the raid was executed on Friday following specific intelligence inputs regarding an alleged illegal arms transaction in the region.
Details of the Operation
Security officials stated that Assam Rifles personnel, in collaboration with the Vaivakawn police station, conducted a search operation at a hardware shop in Chanmari West, where the illicit deal was reportedly taking place. The joint team recovered two Italian-made Beretta pistols of .22 caliber during the operation, and three suspects were taken into custody.
Suspects and Legal Proceedings
Assam Rifles did not disclose the identities of the arrested individuals, citing security reasons. The suspects and the seized firearms have been handed over to the Vaivakawn police station for further investigation and legal action.
