Auto Driver Killed in Surat Over Molestation Allegations

A tragic incident unfolded in Surat on Sunday evening when a 35-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was allegedly beaten to death following a dispute over molestation allegations. The event took place in the Althan police station area, near CB Patel Cricket Ground on the road leading to Mangalam Heights building.

Victim and Allegations

The deceased has been identified as Rahul Rajput, a resident of the area. According to police reports, Rajput had been providing transportation services to a domestic worker residing in Harinagar, Udhna, for approximately one and a half years. He would ferry her to various residential societies in the Althan locality. However, in recent months, Rajput allegedly began harassing and molesting the woman. Due to these repeated incidents, she decided to stop using his services. Police further stated that Rajput threatened her after she refused to travel with him.

The Incident

On Sunday around 6:30 pm, after completing her work at Rajhans Symphony society, the woman reportedly encountered Rajput again, who was waiting nearby. When she ignored him, he allegedly molested her and forced her to accompany him. Distressed, the woman immediately contacted her husband, Rajivkumar Thakur, who works at a textile unit in Udhna. Thakur rushed to the spot, where a heated confrontation broke out between him and Rajput.
