A tragic hit-and-run incident in Mulund East on Sunday claimed the life of a 32-year-old man, according to police reports. The victim, identified as Mittal Patil, a restaurant manager residing in Chembur West, was fatally struck by an auto-rickshaw near Airoli Bridge.
Details of the Incident
The accident occurred at approximately 1:30 pm on Navghar Road. Eyewitnesses stated that the auto-rickshaw driver made an illegal U-turn, colliding with Patil's motorcycle. The force of the impact threw Patil off his bike, causing severe head injuries. Bystanders immediately rushed him to Veer Savarkar Hospital in Mulund East, where doctors declared him dead at 1:55 pm before admission.
Investigation Underway
Sub-Inspector Pralhad Pawar has been assigned to lead the investigation. The auto-rickshaw driver remains at large and has not been arrested. Police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and appealing for information from the public to trace the suspect.
This incident has raised concerns about road safety and illegal U-turns in the area. Authorities have urged commuters to exercise caution and follow traffic rules.
