Ayodhya Police Recognized for Exemplary Service and Compassion at Awards Ceremony

In a heartfelt tribute to the dedication of law enforcement personnel, senior police officials in Ayodhya have lauded the extraordinary performance of officers deployed in the temple town. Additional Director General of the Lucknow zone, Praveen Kumar, emphasized that it is a profound source of pride for policemen to have the opportunity to heal the wounds of individuals suffering from personal or emotional trauma while carrying out their duties.

Celebrating Achievements at the Police Pride Awards

The accomplishments of the Ayodhya police force were celebrated during the Police Pride Awards, an event jointly organized by The Times of India and Navbharat Times at the Ramayana Hotel in Ayodhya on Friday. A panel of senior officials deputed in Ayodhya was tasked with shortlisting men in uniform who have set an example through their actions while facing tough situations during their postings.

Since the inauguration of the Ram temple on January 22, 2024, crores of devotees have been visiting Ayodhya, creating significant challenges for the police force. The immense rush has tested the resilience of the men in uniform, requiring additional deployment to manage the pressure. Regular visits by dignitaries and VVIPs have often resulted in complex situations, with officers facing the wrath of residents on such occasions.

ADG Praveen Kumar Highlights Police Role

ADG Praveen Kumar, a 2001 batch IPS officer, expressed overwhelming emotions while offering gratitude to the dedicated police personnel. He stated, "It is time to acknowledge the efforts of the unknown faces who stand on the ground in uniform, braving the extreme weather of the Awadh region alongside tough situations that emerge while dealing with the public directly."

He further elaborated, "As officers, we all need to be proud about the fact that we are the most visible agents deputed to defend the Constitution. Private companies and industrial groups, through their corporate social responsibility initiatives, are doing something good for society. But policemen are among a very few who get a chance to help a person in distress while getting paid."

Honoring Outstanding Personnel

Among the 36 awardees selected under 17 different categories, Ashvini Pandey, the station house officer of Nagar Kotwali, was adjudged the most effective policeman. An officer explained, "Having been deputed for a long period, Pandey has been discharging his day-to-day duties with complete sincerity. Local traders, businessmen, seers, saints as well as common residents have honored him on different occasions and have been offering only positive feedback. That is how he was shortlisted among the most effective men in khaki."

Senior officials noted that many more personnel who work in the background without seeking credit could not be felicitated, but through such events, their efforts were also being celebrated. Special guest Bharat Das Maharaj, chief of Udasin Ashram in Ayodhya, urged, "We need to keep working positively and release positive vibes in society."

The Police Pride Awards serve as a reminder of the vital role law enforcement plays in maintaining order and providing emotional support in challenging environments, particularly in sacred cities like Ayodhya.
