Varanasi: The Jiyanpur police in Azamgarh have arrested a miscreant and busted a gang involved in providing fake guarantees to criminals to secure bail from courts. The police also recovered fake documents that were submitted as guarantors.
Arrest and Background
Azamgarh’s Additional Superintendent of Police (rural), Chirag Jain, stated on Sunday that the Jiyanpur police arrested Ramchandra Yadav, also known as Maiku Yadav or Satyam Yadav, of Bharauli near the district jail in Gorakhpur recently. He was brought to Azamgarh after completing necessary legal formalities. Over 25 cases are registered against the accused, who is charged with preparing fake documents to influence judicial proceedings and providing undue advantages to criminals.
Modus Operandi
Yadav is an active member of a gang that secured bail for persons held in criminal cases using forged documents. The investigation into Yadav and his gang members revealed that some self-proclaimed lawyers and bail guarantors used to secure bail for accused individuals lodged in jail in cases of dacoity, robbery, murder, theft, or under the Gangsters Act through forged documents. Evidence was found of multiple bails being secured using identical documents in the name of a single bail guarantor.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to crack down on fraudulent activities within the judicial system. The police continue to investigate the extent of the gang's operations and are working to identify all individuals involved in this illegal practice.
