Varanasi: In a significant breakthrough, the Rani Ki Sarai police in Azamgarh district on Monday apprehended a member of a gang involved in defrauding individuals by promising them jobs in paramilitary forces through forged documents. The accused was arrested in Mau district.
Complaint and Investigation
According to police, Pankaj Yadav, a resident of Andhauri village under the Rani Ki Sarai police station area, filed a complaint on May 20. He alleged that a group of people had been cheating individuals by providing fake documents and assuring them of employment in paramilitary forces. Based on this complaint, the police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 3(5), 319(2), 318(4), 336(4), 340(2), 61(2), 351(3), 352, and 338.
Arrest of the Accused
During the investigation, the names of several accused came to light. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Munna Sharma, a resident of Piprakala village under the Khajuri police station in Ballia district, near the Mohammadabad railway crossing in Mau district. Police confirmed that Sharma was also wanted in another case registered at the Paltan Bazar police station in Assam’s Kamrup (Metro) district under Sections 120(B), 468, 471, 472, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Ongoing Efforts
City (CO) Shubham Todi stated that the police are continuing their efforts to identify and arrest other members of the gang involved in this racket. The authorities are working diligently to bring all culprits to justice and prevent further fraudulent activities.
