Balrampur Conversion Case: Man Alleges Forced Marriage and Illegal Confinement

A disturbing case of alleged forced religious conversion has emerged in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district, where a local resident has accused three individuals, including a woman from Rae Bareli district, of serious criminal offenses. The complainant alleges he was subjected to coercion, illegal confinement, and a forced marriage against his will.

Police Register FIR at Nagar Kotwali Station

The case was officially registered at the Nagar Kotwali police station on Wednesday, with law enforcement authorities now actively working to locate and apprehend the accused persons. According to police sources, the investigation is progressing with statements being recorded and evidence being systematically collected to establish the facts of the case.

Complainant's Detailed Allegations

In his formal complaint, Bhupendra Chauhan provided a detailed account of the alleged incidents. He stated that he had traveled to Dubai for employment purposes in 2019. During his time abroad, he came into contact with a woman named Rukhsar in 2021, and their communication gradually increased over time.

After returning to India in 2022, Bhupendra claims Rukhsar invited him to visit her native village of Kharaudi, located in the Bachhrawan area of Rae Bareli district. What began as a social visit quickly turned into a nightmare scenario according to his testimony.

Alleged Coercion and Confinement

Upon arriving at the village, Bhupendra alleges he was immediately restrained by Rukhsar along with two of her relatives identified as Pappu and Nanhu. He claims he was subjected to intense pressure to change his religious affiliation against his will, with his name allegedly being altered without his consent.

The situation escalated further as Bhupendra alleges he was kept in confinement, harassed repeatedly, and ultimately coerced into participating in a nikah ceremony during his period of detention. The psychological and physical pressure described in the complaint paints a troubling picture of alleged systematic coercion.

Escape and Police Complaint

According to the complainant's account, he managed to escape from the village on January 30th and made his way to Balrampur district. Once there, he immediately submitted a detailed written complaint at the Nagar Kotwali police station, outlining the entire sequence of events and the specific allegations against the three individuals.

Legal Action and Investigation Status

Based on Bhupendra Chauhan's complaint, authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Rukhsar, her uncle Pappu, and Nanhu under relevant sections of law. A senior police officer involved in the case confirmed that the matter is being thoroughly investigated with all due diligence.

"The matter is being investigated comprehensively. We are recording statements from all relevant parties and collecting evidence methodically to ensure a fair and thorough examination of the allegations," the officer stated, emphasizing the seriousness with which authorities are treating the case.

The incident has drawn attention to concerns about religious freedom and personal autonomy in the region, with the police investigation now focused on verifying the allegations and taking appropriate legal action based on the evidence gathered.
