Bambiha Gang's Arms Supply Chain Exposed: Amritsar Kingpin Vishal Arrested

The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) of the Hanumangarh Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in dismantling a major arms smuggling network. In a decisive operation, they have arrested Vishal Kumar, alias 'Bhaiya', the primary arms procurer for the notorious Bambiha gang. This arrest comes just two weeks after a massive consignment of 11 pistols and 22 magazines was seized, marking a pivotal moment in the fight against organized crime in Punjab.

Key Arrest Exposes Criminal Network

Hanumangarh Superintendent of Police Hari Shankar announced that Vishal Kumar, a resident of Amritsar, was apprehended as part of a special drive targeting gangster networks. Vishal faces an astounding 30 criminal cases, including charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery, dacoity, assault, and violations of the Arms Act. His long-standing involvement in criminal activities has positioned him as the central figure in the Bambiha gang's weapon supply chain.

The police emphasized that this arrest not only fully exposes the entire chain of arms procurement and trafficking but also plays a crucial role in averting a potentially major gang war in Punjab. By disrupting the flow of illegal weapons, law enforcement aims to prevent future violence and conspiracies linked to the gang.

Investigation Unravels Smuggling Route

The breakthrough began on March 1, when police personnel from the Lakhuwali outpost intercepted two individuals from Punjab—Amandeep Singh (alias 'Captain') and Pavandeep Singh (alias 'Billa' or 'Sunny')—as they attempted to flee on a bus. A search of their bags revealed the cache of 11 pistols and 22 magazines, which immediately redirected the investigation's focus.

Through intensive interrogation led by AGTF incharge Police Inspector Lakhbir Singh, it was uncovered that all these weapons had been procured by Vishal Kumar from Madhya Pradesh. This revelation highlighted a cross-state smuggling operation, with weapons sourced from one region and distributed for criminal use in another.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Probe

Based on these findings, the police secured a production warrant to bring Vishal from the Ferozepur District Jail, where he was already detained, and formally placed him under arrest. After obtaining remand from the court, authorities are now interrogating him to uncover the entire network involved in the arms trade.

The investigation aims to identify suppliers, financiers, and other active members of the Bambiha gang, providing a comprehensive view of their operations. Police officials believe that Vishal's arrest will expose a significant portion of the gang's arms-trafficking racket, enabling the prevention of several major future conspiracies and enhancing public safety in the region.

This operation underscores the AGTF's commitment to dealing continuous blows to arms smuggling networks, demonstrating effective law enforcement strategies in combating organized crime. The arrest serves as a warning to other criminal elements while bolstering efforts to maintain peace and order in Punjab.
