Bangladeshi Couple Held in Kollam for Illegal Stay

Thiruvananthapuram: Chavara police have arrested a Bangladeshi couple for allegedly entering the country illegally and residing in Kollam without valid documents. The arrested individuals are Gulsha Gali Melan Khan, 47, and his wife Mughal Khandal, 42, who are natives of Bagerhat in Bangladesh. The arrests were made during a search operation conducted by Chavara police based on confidential information.

Details of the Arrest

Police reported that the couple entered India without passports, visas, or any other valid documents and had been staying in the country for several years. Investigations revealed that they had been living in Kerala for the past 10 years, spending seven years in Chalakudy and the last three years in Karunagappally and Chavara. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Acts.

Legal Action

The police have initiated legal proceedings against the couple under the Immigration and Foreigners Acts. Further investigations are ongoing to determine how they entered India and whether any local networks facilitated their stay.
