Bareilly SUV Crash Unveils Kidnapping Plot, Three Accused Dead
In a shocking development in Bareilly, three men who perished in a high-speed SUV collision on Sunday evening have been identified as kidnappers. The incident, which occurred when their vehicle crashed into a parked tanker, also left two abducted boys and the driver critically injured, while the boys' father was later rescued by police.
Details of the Fatal Accident and Rescue Operation
The crash involved an SUV traveling at an alleged speed of 150 kmph towards Delhi, carrying the accused—Manmohan Singh, 30, from Bareilly, Sikandar from Pilibhit, and Vishesh from Rampur—along with two boys, aged six and three, from Gurgaon. The collision with the tanker killed the three accused on the spot. The driver, Prince from Rampur, and the two boys survived with severe injuries and are receiving treatment at hospitals in Bareilly.
SSP Anurag Arya stated that a video recovered from a deceased suspect's phone confirmed the kidnapping of the minors and their father, Manoj. Police deployed an SOG team and used call detail records to locate and rescue Manoj from a village in Bareilly. Manoj's father, Nathu, who knew of the abduction but did not inform authorities, was detained and provided information leading to the rescue.
Background and Motive Behind the Kidnapping
Preliminary investigations indicate that Manmohan Singh and Manoj were relatives working in Gurgaon. Singh was in a relationship with Manoj's niece, who wished to marry him, but Manoj and Nathu disapproved. Police suggest Singh may have committed the kidnapping to avoid the marriage, though this is not yet conclusive. A missing complaint had been filed in Gurgaon by Manoj's wife, Pooja, last week, alleging the abduction of her husband and children.
The accused had serious criminal records, including cases of dacoity, robbery, theft, and violations under the Arms Act and Gangster Act. The case related to the kidnapping will be transferred to Haryana Police, while the accident investigation remains in Bareilly.
Additional Fatalities and Local Allegations
The crash also resulted in the deaths of two motorcycle riders, Sahabzad Khan and Mumtaz from CB Ganj, who collided with the mangled SUV. Locals alleged that the tanker had been left on the roadside since a previous accident a day earlier. SSP Arya noted that the heavy truck required specialized machinery for removal, complicating the scene.
