SHO Suspended Over Drug Case Negligence
Inspector Daljit Singh, who was posted as the Station House Officer (SHO) of Sangat police station in Bathinda district, has been placed under suspension. The action was taken following allegations of insufficient work on drug-related cases and other complaints regarding his performance.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bathinda, Amneet Kondal, stated that there were multiple complaints against the inspector. The primary issues cited were his failure to resolve sensitive matters on a priority basis and a lack of substantial progress on the core issue of narcotics in the area.
The SSP explained that the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Rural, was directed to investigate the allegations. The suspension of Inspector Daljit Singh was subsequently ordered based on the findings and recommendations contained in the DSP's official report.
Separate Tragedy: Woman Found Dead Near Railway Station
In an unrelated and distressing incident, the body of a 30-year-old married woman was discovered on Sunday. The recovery was made from a secluded spot on the Thandi Sadak near the Bathinda railway station.
The deceased has been identified as Ritika Goyal. She was the mother of a two-year-old boy. According to police information, Ritika was employed at a showroom in Bathinda. She had reportedly not returned to her home after leaving work on Saturday evening, prompting concern.
Murder Suspected, Investigation Underway
Preliminary examination of the body revealed injury marks on the neck, which authorities suspect were caused by sharp-edged weapons. This discovery has led police to treat the case as a homicide.
A forensic team was promptly dispatched to the crime scene to collect vital samples and evidence. Following standard procedure, a formal case under charges of murder has been registered at the Canal Colony police station in Bathinda.
Senior Police Officer (City) Narinder Singh confirmed that the investigation into Ritika Goyal's death is active and ongoing. Police are pursuing all leads to ascertain the circumstances surrounding her murder and to identify the perpetrator.
