Begusarai Land Dispute Turns Violent, 10 Accused

Violent Clash Erupts Over Begusarai Farmland

A serious land dispute turned violent in Begusarai's Barauni Phulwariya area, where resident Mohd Saba Karim has accused ten named individuals and more than two dozen others of attempting to forcibly seize his agricultural property. The incident occurred on Monday when an armed group allegedly entered Karim's farmland and began disruptive activities.

Armed Intruders Terrorize Landowner

According to the formal complaint filed with Barauni Phulwariya police station on Tuesday, Mohd Saba Karim reported that supporters of Harivansh Narayan Singh entered his 37-kattha farmland while heavily armed. The group reportedly used a tractor to plough the already cultivated land and opened fire to intimidate Karim's supporters who attempted to intervene.

Barauni Phulwariya police station SHO Vijay Sahni confirmed that the incident originated from an ongoing land dispute between two parties. Police received information about the clash on Monday but the involved individuals had already fled before authorities could reach the location. Three empty cartridges were recovered from the scene, indicating the severity of the confrontation.

Conflicting Claims Over Land Ownership

The investigation reveals deeply conflicting claims about the land's legitimate ownership. Supporters of Karim maintain that his father-in-law was the original landlord in the area and that Karim has legal rights to cultivate the property. Conversely, supporters of Harivansh Narayan Singh claim he purchased the plot from Karim's father-in-law but has been prevented from taking ownership by the latter's relatives.

SHO Vijay Sahni stated that police have registered Karim's complaint naming ten specific individuals as accused along with over two dozen unknown participants. Notably, police had not received any counter-complaint from the other party until Tuesday afternoon. The case remains under active investigation as authorities work to determine the legitimate owner and identify all participants in the violent incident.

Police sources indicate that violence erupted on Monday after both parties asserted their claims to the disputed land, leading to a significant exchange of gunfire between the opposing groups. The recovery of empty cartridges substantiates claims that firearms were used during the confrontation, elevating the seriousness of the land dispute.
