Late-Night Bar Outing Turns Violent in Bengaluru
A routine late-night outing at a bar in Bengaluru's Residency Road area descended into a terrifying ordeal for two brothers, culminating in a brutal knife attack near Opera Junction in the early hours of April 7. The incident, which began with intimidating stares inside the establishment, escalated dramatically outside, leaving one victim with serious stab wounds.
From Tension to Terror: The Escalation of Events
The complainant, 30-year-old mechanic Mohammed Saifulla from Kalasipalya, detailed the harrowing sequence of events to the Ashok Nagar police. Saifulla, accompanied by his brother Imran and two friends, visited a bar on Residency Road around 11 PM on April 6. While enjoying their drinks, the group reportedly became the target of harassment from another set of patrons, who began subjecting them to aggressive and intimidating stares, creating a palpable atmosphere of tension within the bar premises.
Choosing to avoid a direct confrontation, Saifulla and his companions initially maintained their composure. After their two friends departed around 12:45 AM, the situation took a turn for the worse. At approximately 1 AM, as Saifulla and Imran were walking towards the parking area, the same group reignited the argument, leading to a verbal altercation.
The Violent Confrontation and Knife Attack
Sensing imminent danger and noticing a Hoysala police patrol vehicle approaching the area, the brothers wisely decided to leave the scene on their two-wheeler, heading towards Opera Junction. However, their attempt to escape the threat proved futile. At around 1:30 AM, while Saifulla was attempting to book a cab to return home and Imran was en route to his residence in RT Nagar, the confrontation reached its violent climax.
A group of four men, who were present at the bar earlier, allegedly followed the brothers in a white Swift car. The vehicle stopped behind their motorcycle, and the assailants emerged. One of the accused reportedly slapped Imran. When Saifulla intervened to protect his brother, the situation turned brutally violent. One attacker stabbed Saifulla in the chest with a knife. Another assailant inflicted further injuries, stabbing him near the ear and on the right side of his face, leaving him with serious, life-threatening wounds.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon noticing police personnel approaching the location once again, the accused quickly fled the scene in their car, speeding away along a one-way stretch of Residency Road. Saifulla was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. Fortunately, he is now reported to be out of critical danger and is recovering from his injuries.
The Ashok Nagar police have registered a case of attempt to murder in connection with the violent incident. In a significant development, one of the alleged attackers, identified as Zabiullah, was arrested on Wednesday. Law enforcement authorities have confirmed that intensive efforts are currently underway to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in this shocking act of violence. The investigation is ongoing as police work to piece together the full details of the confrontation and the events leading up to the knife attack.
