Bengaluru Farmer Fatally Struck by Speeding Car Driven by Medical Student
A tragic road accident claimed the life of a 43-year-old farmer in Bengaluru early Friday morning. The incident occurred near Bettakote village in Devanahalli taluk, where a high-speed collision between a motorcycle and a car resulted in fatal consequences.
Details of the Devastating Collision
The accident took place on the Budigere–Devanahalli Main Road. A Maruti Swift Dzire, bearing registration number KA-03-NC-5384 and driven by a medical student, rammed into the motorcycle of Venkategowda BV from behind at excessive speed. The impact was so severe that Venkategowda was flung into the air before crashing onto the road surface.
Following the collision, the car toppled over and veered into a roadside ditch. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, according to police reports. Venkategowda was on his way to his agricultural land when the fatal crash occurred, leaving behind his mother, wife, and two teenage children.
Identity of the Driver and Police Investigation
The car driver has been identified as Anand S, a resident of Hennur who is currently pursuing an MBBS degree. Villagers discovered his ID card inside the vehicle after the accident. A senior police officer stated that Anand has not returned home since the incident, likely out of fear.
"We have contacted his family and the educational institute where he is studying to convince him to surrender," the officer added. Authorities are actively working to ensure Anand cooperates with the investigation into this tragic event.
The local community and law enforcement are emphasizing road safety measures in the wake of this accident, which highlights the dangers of speeding on rural roads. The case remains under investigation as police gather further evidence and statements from witnesses.
