Tragic Suicide in Bengaluru Linked to Failed Long-Term Relationship
In a deeply distressing incident, a 24-year-old BCom graduate allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Attur Layout, Yelahanka New Town, Bengaluru, on April 9. The young man, identified as Abhishek, left behind a poignant suicide note in English, explicitly blaming his lover for his extreme decision. According to police reports, Abhishek stated he was profoundly depressed after feeling betrayed by his partner, with whom he had been in a relationship for approximately six to seven years.
Final Communications and Death Note Details
Before taking his own life by hanging from a window grill, Abhishek made a series of final communications. He reportedly made video calls to his lover, informing her directly that he was ending his life, and also sent her a message via WhatsApp. In his detailed death note, Abhishek expressed that he was madly in love with the woman and was devastated when she suddenly broke up with him. The note also contained heartfelt apologies to his elder brother and friends, with Abhishek regretting that he had not given them enough time.
Relationship Strains and Police Involvement
Investigations reveal that the relationship faced significant opposition in recent months after the woman's parents became aware of it and disapproved. A senior police officer explained that the woman had been opposing the relationship for several months following her family's discovery. As Abhishek continued to pursue her, allegedly pressuring her to maintain the relationship, her family felt compelled to approach the police. The matter was addressed at the police station where a compromise was reached, and Abhishek was given a formal warning.
Legal Proceedings and Evidence
In response to the tragedy, the Bengaluru police have registered a case of abetment to suicide. Abhishek's family has cooperated fully with the investigation, providing crucial evidence including chat details and video call records between Abhishek and the woman. These digital records are expected to play a key role in understanding the dynamics leading up to the tragic event and in the ongoing legal proceedings.
