Bengaluru Shock: Man High on Marijuana Attempts Assault on Specially-Abled Woman
Bengaluru: High man attempts assault on disabled woman

Bengaluru Home Invasion Sends Shockwaves Through IT Hub

In a disturbing incident that has shaken Bengaluru's MR Nagar area, a man under the influence of marijuana broke into a residential property and attempted to sexually assault a specially-abled woman. The terrifying episode occurred on November 9 within the jurisdiction of Audugodi Police Station.

The Harrowing Attack on a Vulnerable Victim

The accused, identified as Vignesh alias Dadu, targeted a young woman with significant physical challenges that affect both her speech and mobility. According to police reports, Vignesh was heavily intoxicated with marijuana when he forcibly entered the home by manipulating the door latch.

Taking advantage of the woman's vulnerability and her being alone at home, the assailant managed to partially undress the victim before the situation took a dramatic turn. The timely intervention of the woman's mother, who was returning from a wedding function, prevented what could have been an even more tragic outcome.

Mother's Courageous Intervention and Community Response

In a remarkable display of maternal instinct and courage, the victim's mother arrived home just in time to discover Vignesh hiding behind the door. Immediately recognizing the danger, she raised a powerful alarm that alerted neighbors and local residents.

The community responded swiftly, rushing to the scene and apprehending the accused. Enraged by his actions against a specially-abled individual, the local residents administered physical punishment to Vignesh before formally handing him over to law enforcement authorities.

Legal Consequences and Political Reactions

The Audugodi Police have taken serious action against the perpetrator, charging him under Section 75 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for sexual harassment. Vignesh currently remains in police custody as investigations continue to uncover further details about the case.

This incident coincided with Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara addressing another significant law and order issue. On the same day, the Home Minister demanded strict action against jail officials allegedly providing "VVIP treatment" to inmates at Bengaluru Central Jail.

Parameshwara issued a stern warning specifically mentioning special treatment given to rapists, ISIS terrorists, and other serious criminals. He called an urgent meeting of police officials and sought a comprehensive report from Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) B Dayananda regarding these allegations.

The Home Minister emphasized that he would not tolerate such misconduct, stating firmly: "But I will not tolerate this nonsense. Enough is enough." He specifically rejected complaints about being short-staffed as a reasonable excuse for failing to perform official duties properly.

This strong stance from the state's home department comes as B Dayananda assumes his new role as ADGP (Prisons) following his recent suspension related to the tragic Bengaluru stampede incident that claimed 11 lives during RCB victory celebrations on June 4.
