Bengaluru Lamborghini's Consecutive Doughnut Stunts Spark Police Investigation
In a startling revelation, police in Bengaluru have uncovered that a white Lamborghini, already under scrutiny for a daring doughnut maneuver in the city's core early Saturday, executed a similar stunt barely 100 meters away within just 15 seconds. Authorities cited CCTV footage on Wednesday, highlighting the rapid succession of these high-risk acts.
Details of the Incidents and Police Response
Investigations indicate that the sports car, owned by Ricky Rai, the son of former don and activist late Muthappa Rai, carried out back-to-back stunts between 2am and 3am. The first incident occurred near Anil Kumble Circle, followed swiftly by a second near Queen's Circle, before the vehicle sped away towards Queen's Road, approximately 2 kilometers distant.
A senior police officer confirmed that the second stunt will be added to the already registered case, emphasizing that "both were intentional acts." During interactions with investigators, Ricky Rai claimed his driver was at the wheel while he sat as a passenger, denying any involvement in road stunts.
Legal and Social Ramifications
The viral video of the Lamborghini performing high-speed doughnuts at Anil Kumble Circle prompted the Cubbon Park police to file a case of rash and negligent driving against the driver. If proven, the charges could result in up to six months in jail, a fine of up to Rs 1,000, or both penalties.
Ricky Rai's counsel, G Narayanswamy, contested the allegations, describing the event as "skillful driving" worthy of appreciation. He argued that between 2am and 3am, traffic was minimal, thus causing negligible nuisance. According to Narayanswamy, the car skidded due to mud on a recently repaired road when the driver applied brakes, but was controlled effectively.
Ongoing Investigations and Suspicions
An investigating officer countered this claim, stating there was no mud on the repaired road and that the back-to-back doughnuts within 15 seconds strongly suggest intentionality. Police plan to scan additional CCTV footage from junctions the Lamborghini passed that night to uncover potential similar stunts elsewhere.
The officer noted, "Ricky Rai's residence is in RMV II Stage, near Dollars Colony. We suspect the Lamborghini, reportedly collected from a service center Friday evening, may have performed analogous acts at other junctions." This ongoing probe aims to piece together the full extent of the vehicle's activities during the early morning hours.
