In a significant development, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in Bengaluru made an arrest on Saturday, targeting a man from Mysuru accused of creating a counterfeit audio clip. This fabricated recording falsely depicted a conversation involving former Muda commissioner BA Natesh and other individuals, stirring controversy across social media platforms.

The audio clip, which rapidly gained viral traction, featured Natesh purportedly admitting to paying a bribe of Rs 1.6 crore to secure his promotion. This claim, however, has been debunked as entirely fraudulent, leading to legal action against those responsible for its creation and dissemination.
Arrest and Detentions in the Case
The arrested individual, identified as Vinod Narayan Lal, who is in his 30s, was taken into custody following a formal complaint lodged by Natesh himself. In addition to Lal, authorities detained Mysuru-based activist Snehamayi Krishna, who played a pivotal role by posting the audio on social media, thereby amplifying its reach and impact.
Krishna, who was subsequently released by the CCB police, has since issued a public apology on his social media account. He acknowledged his mistake in hastily sharing the audio clip without verifying its authenticity, expressing regret for the unintended consequences.

According to an investigating officer involved in the case, the motive behind the fabrication stemmed from personal enmity. Vinod Narayan Lal harbored animosity towards Natesh, which drove him to create the fake audio clip. Knowing that Krishna had a history of challenging government officials, Lal strategically handed the clip to him, anticipating it would be disseminated widely.
The officer further clarified, "Krishna erred by hurriedly posting it without proper verification. As a result, we have also booked Krishna in the case, highlighting the legal repercussions of spreading unverified content."
