Bengaluru Man Arrested for Murder After Throwing Paralyzed Mother from Fourth Floor
In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, a man has been arrested on charges of murder after allegedly throwing his aged and paralyzed mother from the fourth floor of their rented building, resulting in her instant death. The tragic event unfolded on Wednesday afternoon in the BEML Layout, 3rd Stage, located in RR Nagar.
Details of the Incident and Arrest
Police have identified the accused as Venkatesh C, also known as Dasharath, who is accused of killing his 75-year-old mother, Savitramma C. According to authorities, the incident came to light around 3 PM when the house owner, E Vikram, who resides on the ground floor, heard a loud thud at the back of the building. Vikram rents out the upper floors, with Venkatesh living on the first floor.
Investigations revealed that Venkatesh lifted his mother in the afternoon, took her to the fourth floor, and threw her down. She died on the spot. After the act, Venkatesh returned to his home and locked himself inside. Based on Vikram's statement, the RR Nagar police promptly registered a murder case and arrested Venkatesh.
Confession and Motivations Behind the Crime
In his confession to the police, Venkatesh, who claims to be an employee at a private company, explained that he was overwhelmed by the difficulties of caring for his mother and funding her treatment. He stated, "My father died around 10 years back and since then, I was looking after my mother. Around five years back, she suffered a stroke and was paralyzed. Since she was bedridden, I had to leave my job to care for her. Also, there were no signs of her recovering. Each day, life became miserable for me."
This account highlights the severe caregiver stress and financial burdens that may have contributed to this tragic outcome. Police are continuing to investigate further details about the family background and circumstances.
Family Background and Ongoing Investigation
An investigating officer provided additional context, noting that Venkatesh is married, and his wife works as a helper in a clinic. Venkatesh himself is employed as an assistant in a showroom. At the time of the incident, his wife was away at work, which police believe may have provided an opportunity for the crime.
The case underscores broader issues related to elderly care and mental health challenges faced by caregivers in urban settings. Authorities are working to gather more information to understand the full scope of this heartbreaking event.
