Bengaluru Police Seize Rs 28.75 Crore Drugs, Arrest Foreign Nationals
Bengaluru: Rs 28.75 Crore Drugs Seized Ahead of New Year

In a major pre-emptive strike ahead of the New Year festivities, Bengaluru police have thwarted a significant narcotics supply operation. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) successfully seized drugs with an estimated street value of a staggering Rs 28.75 crore. The operation led to the arrest of two foreign nationals, including a woman from Tanzania.

Massive Haul and International Links

The intelligence-driven operation, culminating on 03 December 2025, targeted networks attempting to flood the city with narcotics. The seizure underscores the international links of drug trafficking rings operating in the region. The arrest of the Tanzanian national alongside another foreigner highlights the cross-border nature of this crime. Authorities have not yet disclosed the identity of the second individual or their nationality.

Post Office Interception and Hydro Ganja

In a parallel and crucial interception, the police squad monitored parcels at the Foreign Post Office in Chamarajpet. Their vigilance paid off with the discovery and confiscation of 8 kilograms of hydro ganja. This variant of cannabis, known for its high potency, was likely intended for distribution during the upcoming celebration season. The dual seizures—from the post office and the main haul—point to a coordinated effort to use multiple channels for smuggling.

Crackdown Ahead of Celebrations

The timing of this crackdown is critical. Police forces across metropolitan cities traditionally intensify vigil before New Year's Eve to prevent substance abuse and ensure public safety. This massive seizure by the Bengaluru CCB is a clear message to drug peddlers about the heightened surveillance. It aims to disrupt the supply chain that often sees increased activity during party seasons. The police have reiterated their commitment to maintaining a strict watch to ensure celebrations remain safe and drug-free.

The investigation is now focused on uncovering the entire network, from local distributors to international suppliers. Forensic analysis of the seized substances and interrogation of the arrested accused are underway. This operation is one of the largest drug busts in the city in recent times and is expected to lead to further breakthroughs in combating organized narcotics trade in Karnataka's capital.
