Bengaluru Teen Rescued from Suicide Attempt by Police

A 16-year-old girl who attempted to jump from the terrace of a residential building in Ramamurthynagar on Thursday morning was rescued by police and fire and emergency officials. The incident occurred around 10:20 am when the girl climbed to the terrace on the fifth floor of her residential complex on Varanasi Main Road near Aneppa Circle. She climbed over the safety railing and declared her intention to end her life by jumping. Local residents immediately alerted the helpline 112. Ramamurthynagar police were notified and rushed to the spot, along with fire and emergency officials.

Rescue Operation

The officials initially attempted to persuade her to step back onto the terrace, assuring her that they would help resolve her issues. However, she did not comply. A policeman in plainclothes then climbed onto the terrace and managed to grab her hand. Fire officials and other policemen quickly pulled her back to safety around 11:30 am.

Reason for the Attempt

According to a senior officer, the girl was not on good terms with her parents, who opposed her relationship. This led her to take the extreme step.
