28-Year-Old Man Stabbed to Death by Wife in Bengaluru Domestic Dispute
Bengaluru: Wife stabs husband to death after argument

A shocking incident of domestic violence culminated in murder in Bengaluru's eastern suburbs early Thursday. A 28-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death following a prolonged argument at their rented apartment in Munnekolala.

The Fatal Night: From Argument to Tragedy

The deceased has been identified as Raju Rajputh, aged 28, while the accused is his 27-year-old wife, Raveena Kaur Rajputh. The couple, originally from Assam, had been married for seven years and are parents to a three-year-old daughter.

According to police reports, the altercation began around midnight on Wednesday. The argument grew so loud that disturbed neighbours alerted the building's security guard. When the guard intervened, Raveena apologised for the noise and asked him not to interfere in their personal matters. The guard issued a warning and left.

A Troubled Marriage and Financial Strain

Investigations reveal a backdrop of persistent marital discord. The couple had moved into a one-bedroom apartment on the fourth floor of the building just 20 days prior. They had a pattern of frequently shifting houses upon returning to Bengaluru from their native Assam.

Both partners were currently unemployed. Raju worked as a labourer, while Raveena had previously been employed at a spa and salon. Police stated that Raju was addicted to alcohol and gambling. This addiction reportedly led him to frequently harass his wife for money, sparking regular quarrels between them.

The Final Act and Aftermath

After the security guard's departure, the argument reportedly intensified. In a fit of rage, Raveena allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed Raju twice in the chest. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.

Hearing the victim's screams, a neighbour called the police helpline (112). A Hoysala patrol unit reached the spot around 4:30 am. Raveena, who was in a state of shock, pleaded with the police to take her husband to the hospital, believing he was still alive. However, Raju was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Varthur police have arrested Raveena Kaur Rajputh on charges of murder, based on a complaint filed by a neighbour. Their three-year-old daughter, who was present, is currently in custody with her mother. Police confirmed the child will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee for further care and proceedings.
