Bengaluru Woman Succumbs to Injuries, Attempt to Murder Case Upgraded to Murder
In a tragic development in Bengaluru, a 45-year-old woman who was brutally stabbed by her nephew and his associates has died from her injuries. The incident, which occurred during a violent family dispute, has prompted police to officially upgrade the charges from attempt to murder to murder.
Victim Identified as Mageshwari of Adugodi
The deceased has been identified as Mageshwari, a resident of Adugodi in Bengaluru. According to police reports, the attack was the culmination of escalating tensions within the family. Four individuals have been arrested in connection with this horrific crime: Manikiran, his father Manivannan, and his associates Maniraj (also known as Stephan) and Abhishek.
Family Dispute Turns Deadly
Investigations by the Adugodi police reveal that the violence stemmed from marital discord. Manikiran was married to Charulata, who is the daughter of Mageshwari's elder sister. Following disagreements in their marriage, Charulata had returned to her parental home and was residing with her grandmother and Mageshwari.
Police stated that Manikiran made multiple attempts to convince his wife to return to him, but she consistently refused. Frustrated by her refusal, Manikiran allegedly went to Mageshwari's residence accompanied by his father and friends with the intention of forcibly taking Charulata back.
Violent Confrontation and Multiple Stabbings
When Mageshwari intervened to protect her niece, the situation turned violent. The group first assaulted her with an iron rod before escalating the attack. Manikiran and his associates then stabbed Mageshwari multiple times in the thigh before forcibly taking Charulata away from the premises.
Medical Complications Lead to Tragic Outcome
Mageshwari was initially admitted to St John's Hospital, where doctors initially reported she was out of danger. However, due to financial constraints, her family later transferred her to Victoria Hospital and subsequently to another medical facility. Her condition deteriorated significantly over the following days, and she ultimately passed away around 3 AM on Sunday.
Accused in Custody as Case Escalates
All four accused individuals, who work as laborers, are currently being held at Central Prison in Parappana Agrahara. With Mageshwari's death, the legal framework of the case has fundamentally changed. What began as an attempt to murder investigation has now been formally upgraded to a murder case, carrying significantly more severe legal consequences for the accused.
The Bengaluru police continue their investigation into this tragic incident that highlights how domestic disputes can escalate into fatal violence. The community remains shocked by this brutal attack that has claimed the life of a woman caught in the middle of family conflict.
