Tragic Death of Bengaluru Woman in Suspected Chain Snatching Incident
A 42-year-old woman from Bengaluru has died under tragic circumstances following a suspected chain snatching attack in Huskuru village, located on the outskirts of the city. The incident, which occurred early Monday morning, has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted a thorough police investigation.
Details of the Fatal Morning Attack
The victim, identified as Jyothi, a resident of Huskuru village near Nelamangala, was fatally attacked while using an outdoor toilet around 5:30 AM. According to family members, Jyothi worked at a private firm and typically woke up early to reach her workplace by 8 AM. Relatives described a harrowing sequence of events that unfolded on Monday morning.
"Someone watched her go to the washroom located outside the house," said Manjunath, a relative who spoke to reporters. "They snatched the chain and locked the door from the outside. When she did not return after some time, her husband went out to search for her. He found the outdoor toilet locked and called out for help. Neighbors opened the door and found Jyothi lying on the ground."
Jyothi was immediately rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival, according to family statements.
Police Investigation and Conflicting Theories
Initial reports from the family allege that robbers sprayed a chemical substance on Jyothi to facilitate the chain snatching, causing her to lose control and fall to the ground. However, police authorities have emphasized that they have not conclusively determined this to be a chain snatching case and are exploring multiple angles.
"The chain is missing, and there are injury marks around her neck and head," stated a senior police officer involved in the investigation. "The house door latch was locked from the outside. But this is one of the many angles we are probing. When the incident took place, Jyothi's son and husband were in the house. It looks like the family came to know that she was missing much later. When we inquired with neighbors, there was no screaming or loud noise when the incident took place."
A team from the Madanayakanahalli police station quickly arrived at the scene to conduct a detailed inspection. D L Nagesh, North-West Deputy Commissioner of Police, confirmed that the incident occurred between 5:30 AM and 6:30 AM, with Jyothi found unconscious outside her home.
Official Statements and Ongoing Probe
Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh addressed the media, stating that authorities are diligently verifying all allegations and continuing the investigation. "This is the first time such an incident (death during chain-snatching) has taken place. We are investigating the case," he added, highlighting the unusual nature of this tragedy.
The police are examining various possibilities, including the family's claim about chemical spray and the locked toilet door. The absence of any audible disturbance during the incident has raised additional questions that investigators are working to resolve.
As the probe continues, the community remains in mourning over the loss of Jyothi, whose daily routine was brutally interrupted by this violent act. The case underscores ongoing concerns about personal safety and criminal activities in suburban areas of Bengaluru.
