In a shocking incident that has rattled Bengaluru residents, a 27-year-old woman allegedly kidnapped a four-year-old girl from her neighbourhood, driven by what police describe as "an intense desire to raise a child" after being unable to conceive.
The Disturbing Abduction
The terrifying ordeal began on Tuesday evening when the young girl went missing from near her home in Bengaluru's Kacharakanahalli area. According to police reports, the child was playing outside her residence when she was lured away by the accused woman, identified as Soundarya.
"The family immediately alerted us when they couldn't find their daughter," stated a senior police officer involved in the investigation. "We launched an intensive search operation involving multiple police teams and technical surveillance."
Rapid Police Response Leads to Breakthrough
Bengaluru police swung into action, examining CCTV footage from the area which proved crucial in cracking the case. The footage clearly showed Soundarya taking the child away from the neighbourhood.
"Through technical analysis and local intelligence, we tracked the accused to her sister's house in Hoskote," the police official revealed. "Within 24 hours of the kidnapping, we successfully rescued the child and arrested the suspect."
Heartbreaking Motive Behind the Crime
During interrogation, Soundarya confessed to police that she had been unable to conceive a child despite years of marriage. This overwhelming desire for motherhood allegedly drove her to commit the desperate act.
"The accused told us she wanted to raise the child as her own," investigators disclosed. "She had taken the girl to her sister's house in Hoskote, where we found both of them."
Emotional Reunion and Legal Proceedings
The rescued child was immediately medically examined and found to be in good health before being joyfully reunited with her relieved parents. Meanwhile, Soundarya now faces serious legal consequences for her actions.
Police have registered a case under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code at the Halasuru Gate police station. The investigation continues as authorities examine all aspects of this disturbing case that highlights both the emotional trauma of infertility and the critical importance of child safety.
