What was once a conventional police station now resembles an expansive garden, complete with approximately 100 varieties of flowers, a dedicated children's park in one corner, and a serene temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh.

The entire premises has been beautifully illuminated, with the police station building adorned in tricolour lights that enhance its visual appeal during evening hours. "The place looks more like a park than a police station," remarked LN Kar, a resident of Bhanjanagar, capturing the essence of this extraordinary makeover. The transformation is so complete that many visitors now come specifically to enjoy the station's aesthetic beauty rather than for official police business.

According to Jeevananand Jena, the Inspector-in-Charge of Bhanjanagar police station, the beautification initiative was strategically undertaken with clear objectives in mind. The primary goals were to make the police station more public-friendly and reduce the psychological suffering of victims who visit to lodge complaints. The welcoming environment aims to create a less intimidating atmosphere for those seeking police assistance.

"Around 100 people of the town have voluntarily donated flower pots along with plants," Jena revealed, highlighting the community's enthusiastic participation. Sustained Maintenance and Staff Involvement
To ensure the garden's ongoing beauty, the police station has implemented a structured maintenance system. Two home guards have been specifically engaged to look after the plants, while all staff members, including officers, participate in cleaning and watering activities every Sunday from 9 AM to 1 PM. - Maintaining the premises as a designated "no tobacco zone"
The "no tobacco zone" policy carries significant enforcement measures, with a fine of Rs 500 imposed on offenders for their second violation. Notably, this fine applies equally to police station staff, ensuring consistent enforcement of the healthy environment policy.
