Major Drug Bust in Tonk: Bhilwara DST and Local Police Seize Contraband Worth Rs 20 Lakh

In a significant crackdown on illegal narcotics, the District Special Team from Bhilwara joined forces with Tonk police on Monday. Together, they executed two coordinated operations within Tonk district. These actions resulted in the confiscation of drugs with an estimated street value of twenty lakh rupees.

Details of the Seized Narcotics

Authorities recovered a substantial quantity of illegal substances during the raids. The seized items included:

  • 2 kilograms of opium
  • 53 kilograms of poppy husk powder
  • 1.5 kilograms of ganja

Police also confiscated Rs 11,040 in cash, believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Additionally, they impounded a car and a motorcycle that were allegedly used to transport the contraband.

Arrests and Legal Action

The operations led to the arrest of two individuals. Law enforcement officials took Ramlal, aged 47, and Mukesh, aged 40, into custody. Both men were apprehended from the Mehndwas police station area in connection with the drug haul.

Police have registered a formal case against the accused under the stringent Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. This legal step underscores the seriousness of the charges.

Police Statements and Ongoing Efforts

Tonk Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena provided details about the operations. He confirmed that the seizures occurred at Lambaharisigh. SP Meena emphasized that all police officers in the district have received clear directives to combat illegal drug activities aggressively.

This joint effort between Bhilwara's specialized unit and Tonk police highlights a coordinated approach to tackling narcotics trafficking in the region. The successful operations demonstrate active enforcement against drug-related crimes in Rajasthan.
