In a significant crackdown on the illegal liquor trade, the Bhopal Crime Branch conducted a dramatic late-night raid on a warehouse, leading to the massive seizure of illicit alcohol. The operation, based on a specific tip-off, resulted in the confiscation of a staggering 888 boxes of illegal liquor stored at the premises.
Tip-Off Leads to Major Seizure
The chain of events was set in motion after authorities received crucial intelligence. Additional DCP (Crime Branch) Shailendra Singh Chouhan stated that information was received regarding the planned transportation of illegal liquor and beer using a black SUV near Ektapuri Maidan in the Ashoka Garden area. Acting swiftly on this tip, the police team swung into action.
The Raid and Arrests
The police operation was executed with precision. Before raiding the warehouse itself, the team intercepted the black SUV as it exited the location. 19 boxes of illegal liquor loaded in the vehicle were seized on the spot. This initial seizure confirmed the tip-off and led the officers directly to the source.
The subsequent raid on the warehouse uncovered the full scale of the illegal operation. Inside, police found and confiscated an additional 888 boxes of illicit liquor, making it one of the significant hauls in recent times. The combined seizure from the SUV and the warehouse highlights a well-organized racket.
Manhunt Launched for Key Accused
As a result of the operation, three individuals were arrested in connection with the storage and transportation of the illegal consignment. They are currently under interrogation as police work to unravel the network behind this trade.
However, the investigation is far from over. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that efforts are actively underway to trace the warehouse manager and other associates involved in the illicit business. The police are determined to reach the masterminds controlling this supply chain.
This raid underscores the continued vigilance of the Bhopal police against the illegal liquor trade, which poses serious risks to public health and safety and causes significant revenue loss to the state exchequer.
