According to police reports, the victim has been identified as Dev Payan Mudgal, a 25-year-old second-year BCom student residing in Ishan Park Colony, Patel Nagar, Anand Nagar. The accident took place around 1:30 am near Nehru Nagar Square on the road leading towards Bhadbhada.
Dev, along with his friends, had gone out for dinner on Monday night. The mishap occurred when he was reportedly driving to drop one of his friends back home. The SUV they were traveling in lost control, crashed into a roadside tree, and overturned.
Police Investigation and Immediate Aftermath
Police personnel reached the spot promptly after receiving information. Head Constable Sunil Mishra, the investigation officer, stated that the exact cause is still under scrutiny. Authorities are probing whether the driver lost control due to a stray animal suddenly appearing on the road or if the vehicle was speeding.
Dev Mudgal, who sustained critical injuries in the Kamla Nagar road fatality, was rushed to a nearby private hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared him dead on arrival. His three friends were also taken to a hospital and are currently undergoing treatment. The police have registered a case and sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
