Bhopal Driver Evades Police After High-Speed Chase Involving Fake Number Plate

In a dramatic incident in Bhopal, a driver managed to escape police custody after allegedly using a counterfeit number plate on a loading pickup vehicle to avoid law enforcement checks. The episode unfolded on January 4 during routine traffic monitoring in the Misrod area, where officers noted the vehicle driving recklessly at high speed, prompting immediate suspicion.

Police Alert and Failed Interception Attempts

As the vehicle was spotted speeding from Narmadapuram Road towards MP Nagar, police quickly alerted traffic personnel stationed ahead. When the pickup reached the Ganesh Temple checking point, authorities attempted to halt it, but the driver accelerated away, initiating a brief chase. Police eventually intercepted the vehicle and requested documentation, at which point the driver fled on foot, abandoning the pickup at the scene.

Investigation Reveals Fake Registration and Cargo Details

Following the incident, Habibganj police registered a case on Sunday after conducting a preliminary investigation. Officers seized the vehicle and launched a search for the accused driver. Upon inspection, police discovered several cartons of tooth powder inside, reportedly transported from Nagpur to Bhopal. Further verification through the chassis number exposed that the loading pickup was originally registered in Jaipur, Rajasthan, with the affixed number plate confirmed as fake.

Ongoing Efforts to Locate the Absconding Driver

Authorities are now intensifying efforts to trace the absconding driver, who remains at large. The use of a fake number plate has raised concerns about potential illicit activities, and police are examining the cargo and vehicle history as part of the ongoing probe. This incident highlights the challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing traffic violations and fraudulent practices on the roads.
