Bhopal: Police have recovered eight four-wheelers worth Rs 1.10 crore from a gang that would take vehicles on rent and later sell them by posing as the owners.
Detection and Complaint
Bagh Sewania police made the detection on Saturday based on a complaint by a car owner whose vehicle was taken on rent by the accused and later sold.
Accused Identified
Police identified the accused as Rahul, Syed Jameer, Shammi, Anurag and Sameer. Rahul has been arrested, while efforts are underway to nab the remaining four, police said.
Recovered Vehicles
According to police, seven of the eight vehicles recovered have Bhopal registration numbers. One of the vehicles was sold in Chhindwara and later recovered from there.
The gang's modus operandi involved renting vehicles from owners, forging documents, and selling them to unsuspecting buyers. Police are investigating further to trace any other vehicles that may have been sold.
