Bhopal: Six police teams have been constituted to apprehend the husband of a 31-year-old woman from Noida, who allegedly died by suicide at her in-laws' residence in the Katara Hills locality on the night of May 12. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-2) announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest on Monday.
Family Demands Second Autopsy
Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Kashyap stated that following the post-mortem, the deceased woman's family members refused to accept her body. They insisted on a second autopsy at AIIMS, Delhi, and have submitted a letter to that effect to the hospital. Police have also forwarded a letter to the AIIMS administration, informing them of the family's request.
Preventive Measures Against Flight Risk
ACP Kashyap revealed that police have contacted the passport office, requesting the suspension of the husband's passport and the issuance of an alert to prevent him from fleeing abroad. Raids are being conducted by multiple police teams, with cyber units also involved in tracking his whereabouts. The investigation is being treated as a top priority.
Background of the Case
This case involves the death of a newlywed woman. After an inquest was registered on May 13, police filed an FIR on May 14 against the mother-in-law, a retired district judge, and her lawyer son. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the matter.
Forensic Evidence and Procedural Lapses
According to ACP Kashyap, the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team seized the ligature material, a belt, from the scene. The investigating officer was supposed to submit the belt during the post-mortem at AIIMS but submitted it only the following day. The report from AIIMS is awaited. The circumstances surrounding this delay are under investigation.
