Bhopal Police Launches Major Night-Time Security Sweep
In a decisive move to bolster law and order, the Bhopal Police conducted an extensive combing operation during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. This large-scale initiative targeted miscreants across the city, resulting in the execution of hundreds of pending warrants and the arrest of dozens of suspects.
Focused Raid on Aman Colony (Irani Dera)
The coordinated operation zeroed in on the Aman Colony area, also known as Irani Dera, located in Zone-4. City Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar detailed that the action was prompted by specific intelligence indicating that criminals wanted in multiple cases across various districts and states were hiding within this locality.
A specialized team was assembled under the leadership of DCP Zone-4 Mayur Khandelwal. This formidable force comprised 9 Assistant Commissioners of Police, 16 Inspectors, and nearly 400 police personnel. In a meticulously planned maneuver, the Aman Colony in Nishatpura was completely surrounded before the search commenced.
During the raid, police encountered resistance from some local residents, including women, who allegedly attempted to obstruct the operation. These individuals were swiftly overpowered and taken into custody.
Significant Arrests and Seizures
The operation yielded substantial results, with police arresting 31 men and 8 women from the Aman Colony area. Among those apprehended was Shahadat, a criminal wanted by the Uttar Pradesh Police with a reward exceeding Rs 1 lakh on his head. Many of the arrested individuals are reportedly wanted not only in Bhopal but also in other states.
Authorities seized a considerable cache of items, including:
- 17 suspected stolen two-wheelers
- 644.56 grams of gold ornaments
- 240 grams of silver ornaments
- 39 mobile phones
- Rs 1.34 lakh in cash
- 1.7 kg of ganja (cannabis)
Citywide Enforcement Actions
Beyond the focused raid, the police executed a comprehensive citywide action. This included the execution of 283 permanent warrants, 125 arrest warrants, and 121 bailable warrants. Additionally, 21 other accused individuals were arrested, encompassing absconders, vehicle thieves, and criminals who had been externed from the district.
Eight individuals involved in serious pending crimes were also taken into custody, further underscoring the operation's broad scope and effectiveness. This sweeping initiative demonstrates the Bhopal Police's commitment to maintaining public safety and cracking down on criminal elements through proactive and coordinated efforts.
