A one-year-old girl who suffered critical head injuries in a two-bike collision near Sonkatch petrol pump under Berasia police station limits on June 5 died during treatment 10 days later on Monday. Berasia police registered a case and handed over the body to the family after post-mortem examination.

Incident Details

According to police, complainant Sheeba Bi, 45, a resident of Vidisha district, was travelling with her husband Shahid Khan and one-year-old daughter Saleha on a motorcycle from Bhopal to their native village on the night of June 5. Around 9.45 pm, near Sonkatch petrol pump, their bike allegedly collided head-on with another motorcycle.

The impact left all occupants of both motorcycles injured. They were rushed to hospital in an ambulance. Saleha sustained severe head injuries and remained under treatment before succumbing on June 15. The other members of the family were discharged after treatment, police said.

Legal Proceedings

Police have registered a case of causing death by negligence and are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash.

In a counter complaint, Pravesh Sahu, 19, a labourer from Ganj Basoda in Vidisha district, alleged that he and his friend Pradeep Pal were travelling towards Indore on a newly purchased motorcycle when the oncoming bike struck them near the same location. He suffered injuries to his shoulder, right leg and hand, while Pradeep sustained injuries to his arm, lips and legs.

Police said both versions of the incident are being examined and further investigation is underway.
