Bhopal Woman Accuses Brother's Friend of Rape, Blackmail for 6 Years
Bhopal Woman Alleges Rape and Blackmail for 6 Years

A 21-year-old woman in Bhopal approached the police on Sunday, accusing her elder brother's friend of raping and blackmailing her for the past six years, starting when she was a minor. The accused allegedly exploited the woman using intimate videos he had recorded and stored.

Details of the Allegations

The man reportedly abducted the woman last month and forced her into a marriage ceremony at a temple. When her family attempted to file a missing person complaint, the police initially refused to register a case, citing her adult status.

The woman sent her complaint via post after the accused began threatening to send her videos to her prospective groom and in-laws, as her family had arranged her marriage. Police confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and the accused is currently at large.

Background of the Case

According to police, the accused lives near the complainant's residence. He was a friend of her elder brother and frequently visited their home. The woman alleged that in August 2020, when she was 15, the man came to her home while she was alone and raped her. He recorded obscene video clips of her, threatened to circulate them, and continued to sexually assault her whenever he found her alone.

Recently, after the woman's family fixed her marriage, the man again threatened to leak the videos to her future in-laws. He forced her into a non-consensual marriage at a temple and kept her confined. The woman managed to escape, but the man continued to stalk and harass her. She then sent her complaint via speed post and later visited the police station to record her statement.
